Frequently Asked Questions
What is a standup meeting and how long should it last?
A standup meeting is a brief daily check-in used by agile teams where each member shares what they did yesterday, what they plan to do today, and any blockers. Most standups last 10 to 15 minutes total, with each person speaking for 1 to 2 minutes. The meeting is called a "standup" because participants traditionally stand to keep it short.
How does the standup timer help keep meetings on track?
The standup timer assigns a configurable time limit to each speaker (1, 2, 3, or 5 minutes). When time runs low, the timer changes color as a warning, and when it expires, an audio chime plays. This prevents one person from dominating the meeting and helps the entire team stay focused and concise.
Can I use this standup tool for remote or async teams?
Yes. While designed for live standups, you can use it asynchronously by having each team member fill in their update sections independently. After everyone contributes, export the summary as Markdown or JSON and share it via Slack, email, or your project management tool. The history feature also lets you review past sessions.
Is my team data stored securely with this tool?
All data stays in your browser using localStorage. Nothing is sent to any server. Your team member names, standup notes, and history are stored entirely on your device, making this tool safe for teams that handle sensitive project information. Clearing your browser data will remove all stored standups.
What standup formats are available and can I create my own?
The tool includes three built-in formats: Yesterday/Today/Blockers (the classic agile standup), Done/Doing/Blocked (a simpler variant), and Win/Improvement/Learned (for retrospective-style check-ins). You can also select the Custom option to define your own section names separated by commas, allowing you to adapt the tool to any team workflow.
